11 tips to make your child sleep well

tips sleeping child
Do you remember that time you could stay in your bed for a while? That you did not have to go out of bed at night? That you did not have to think about the early morning when you were to see the daylight when visiting friends? Yes, a time that dates from your childless period. And while we all try to make sure sleep is so overvalued, we must be honest: as a parent you would give money to sleep well for a night.
Still, it's all too bad and you can try to teach your children a sleep rhythm that combines more or less with your own sleep distress. The nights you can not sleep through or the early bird that is on your bed, please take it easy. I speak from experience.
Although I can not complain, my children have been sleeping relatively quickly so far. Still, we had periods when sleep was problematic. But we try to keep our head cool and to point out that it's a phase.
However, because it is always nice to have a good sleeping child and not everyone is blessed with long sleepy children, some tips may be a solution. With the emphasis on possibly because each child, every situation is different.
  1. How to sleep a baby, I can not give tips about that. Simply because a newborn child does not train. Slowly they have to find a rhythm and that is different for each child. Nevertheless, we quickly started building an evening ritual that as she gets older she gets older. How that night ritual should look exactly, that does not matter much. But it's always coming back and relaxing, that's important!
  2. Do not overpower your child just before going to sleep. They are meant to be calm, not to get an adrenaline punch. So make sure your evening ritual fits into this idea. Bathing, reading a book, hugging ... all perfect for rest.
  3. Try to keep as much sleep as possible. Especially for the biological clock it is important to sleep at the same time about the same time. Little children who sleep longer when they are taken to bed later
  4. In the dark everything looks different. As a result, toys that stand in the room or even a pillow that is in the seat can look terrifying for your child. Is your child often afraid when he / she is going to sleep? Take a look around and maybe you'll soon find the cause.
  5. At my kindergarten, I often spend time in bed, in the dark with a little light. It helps her relax and get used to the darkness. In addition, it's another moment she can tell important things to me, and I to her. I always try to go away before falling asleep. Even though I just fall asleep.

  6. For larger children who use a mobile phone, tablet or game machine: do not let them use these devices in bed because it stimulates the brain to stay awake.
  7. When your child wakes up at night and does not sleep back immediately, go to his / her room but do not speak a hundred and do not light up. In most cases, you can put them back in their bed with their hug and / or pacifier.
  8. "Mama, it's light so I can get up!" Is a sentence you often hear in the summer months? Then consider buying a sleeper clock. You have them in different shapes, colors and sizes. But the principle is always the same. Depending on what the clock shows, your child knows if it is getting up or sleeping. Adjust the clock to match its natural rhythm. If your child never sleeps until 9 o'clock in the morning, then it makes little sense to set the clock at that hour.
  9. Does your child often stand up at night? Then there is also a sleeping alarm here. Even though it's not important to find out why your child is out of bed at night. Here we already had periods of severe fears and, of course, does not help such an alarm clock.
  10. Is your child anxious? Then talk to him / her and offer comfort. Also, let's know you're in the area and the child can always come to you if there is anything.
  11. But above all: be consistent about sleeping and bedrings. So even when they put the "kot" on stilts, it's important to keep calm and not go with the hysteria of the moment. And I know that's easier said than done ...
In all this, it is also important to respect the natural pattern of your child. We are all different, so our children too. Is he / she not a long sleeper? Do not try to get rid of it. Consider temporarily adjusting your own rituals to accommodate early morning hours. And know that everything is finally a stage ...

I'm from a family of real gaming fans.  And then I do not mean 'games', but the  old school  companions  games  .  Cozy but fanatic with all around the board.  And now that I am a mother of a toddler and a toddler, I have discovered that there are also a lot of fun games for that age.  For example, we learned a little while ago about Haba's First Orchard.  A game by which my boys are now also infected with the game virus. Let's Play Out!

It has been a trend for some years, but children are less likely to play outside.  That's not a good news because playing outside is not only healthy and educational but also fun.  Let's all play together together! How often do children play outside?  And how does that happen? If we can believe British research (read well: British, which does not apply to Flanders and the Netherlands)  , children are on average less than prisoners.  For example, 26% of children in question would play out for less than half an hour a week.  That's really little.  This trend would be explained by various causes.  On the one hand, it appears that parents are more cautious and see more dangers in outdoor games, on the other hand, electronic toys such as tablets are an attractive alternative for children to simply stay in.  Some researchers also say that more school work leads to less outdoor games.  A lack of safe playgrounds or a quiet street does not ...
